Green Day can get the respect that they used pre-American Idiot?
I had heard that Green Day had turned to pop and American Idiot came. As a huge Green Day fan, I would not agree and the album is not so bad. But with the rhythm and all of them now considered pop and Britney Spears. They were a great band in the 90s and had produced great songs, but their most successful album American Idiot date not only did they get new fans, but received negative criticsm their old fans who prefer When I Come Around Holiday. My question is Green Day can still sense that because the album is not so bad and I would prefer to listen to green day then the Jonas bothers Anyday. MQ-Execpt for Yoko, that broke the Beatles? Is the death of their manager or the Fab Four themselves?
Okay, this thing with Green Day makes me mad. I hear everyone complaining that they are sold out, alienating their fan-base, and not remain faithful to their old sound. Let's face it, if the situation was reversed, and Green Day songs are now held that sounded like their Dookie days, the outrage would be something like "Gee, this sounds exactly like their other stuff. They need a more original sound." Bottom line, bands can not make the same things they did in the past. It's been about 15 years since Dookie, and I think they just started to change around the time warning came. Once people realize that, A band makes the same kind of music for nearly two decades would be boring, your days will find a much larger portion of respect for green. In my opinion, American Idiot is a masterpiece. I have a Green Day fan since Kerplunk, and I am grateful for this transition in a sort of "Grown Up Green Day." So what if it's more commercial than their other stuff? I am glad that the children the opportunity to hear Green Day, and perhaps, for the love of God, they choose the Jonas Brothers when she hears them anymore. Bottom Line: "Old Fans" Green Day will awake, and respect for their relationship if they are real fans. MQ: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is what broke the Beatles. They started too strongly influenced by the different genres of music. Instead of forward as a band, they explored other genres as individuals. THAT is why the group disbanded.
